KontaktThe V5 Elektra is IsoTek's latest voltage optimiser with six independent outputs, each with a dedicated filter network. The V5 Elektra is 450mm wide, 350mm deep and 106mm high. It has two independent high current outputs (for all types of amplifiers) driven by a two stage filter network consisting of both a choke and a dual Pi filter. Each of the four remaining outputs (for source devices) have their own independent six stage delta filter networks, these deliver almost 20dB of current optimisation at 1kHz (reference 600 ohms), this then improves to almost 40dB at 10kHz, ten times higher than the recommended standard. A further five independent filter stages are placed between each outlet in combination with IsoTek's adaptive gating system, which is twice the size of the EVO3 Aquarius, to eliminate cross-contamination of differential mode noise between each outlet.
The V5 Elektra thus consists of six independent filter networks in one box. Most power filters of this type have interconnected outputs in series. This is a mistake, and not particularly wise, because the differential mode noise generated by the connected electronics then overlaps from one output socket to the other. The electrical architecture and the completely independent filters of the outputs of the V5 Elektra prevent this and are therefore superior.
Both differential and common mode noise is drastically reduced. Cross contamination of connected components is also kept to a minimum due to the multiple filters, one for each output jack. Most line filters connect the outputs together, with each one connected in series. This is a mistake because differential mode noise generated by your connected electronics is carried from one output jack to the next.
The electrical architecture and design of the V5 Elektra is in line with IsoTek's high standard for purposeful design. The printed circuit board (PCB) design and topology features double the amount of copper compared to the industry standard, with additional silver plating to improve current handling and reduce resistance. Critical (bespoke) component parts have lower tolerances, resulting in lower inductance and improved current handling. This new circuit offers double the inductance and 40% more current compared to the EVO3 Aquarius. This contributes to a more open soundstage, microdynamics and detail with improved timing. A dramatically improved DCR has been created throughout the design. IsoTek's goal here is to reduce DCR and bring performance closer to the zero ohm ideal.
These technological improvements mean that the V5 Elektra delivers an absolute power of 10A, a higher absolute power (almost 16A transient) within what the utility can deliver and what the regulations allow for a 10 amp product.
KERP © (Kirchhoff's Equal Resistance Path) ensures equal resistance and power delivery to all sockets. Internal wiring is of the highest standard - using a unique 2mm design with pure 6N oxygen-free copper conductor strands, each silver plated, providing low resistance and high current. An aerospace grade fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) dielectric with very low dielectric resistance is used to protect the conductors and provides an ideal conductor contact dielectric for the internal power system.
A sequential protection system of up to 67,500 A also protects your valuable devices from power surges and voltage spikes.
V5 Elektra also includes a System Link connector, which allows the existing 6 outputs to be extended while maintaining the star-shaped ground wiring and using only one wall socket for the entire system.
The internal cabling of IsoTek products is designed to work with IsoTek power cables. Critical but often overlooked in the audio sector is maintaining the commonality of design and material properties of the cables used, be it a signal-carrying cable or a power cable network.
