The improved motor drive circuit with the innovative ?S-Drive (Delta-Sigma Drive) suppresses the vibrations generated by the motor. This is the first stage of the new generation of direct drive turntables from Technics, which aims to further improve sound quality.

Since developing the world's first direct-drive turntable, Technics has continuously worked to improve sound quality. Now the manufacturer has developed the ?S-Drive, which suppresses the smallest vibrations of the motor and improves the electromagnetic conversion accuracy of the cartridge. The first level of direct-drive turntable systems with this technology is the SL-1210GR2.

The turntable achieves high stability and vibration dampening through a two-layer construction with absorbent rubber on the entire back of the die-cast aluminum to eliminate unnecessary resonances that would otherwise be passed on to the record. The result is crystal clear sound.

To achieve a higher inertial mass and reduce vibration, the shape of the aluminum die-cast part was optimized through simulation. At 2.5 kg (including the rubber pad), the platter of the SL-1210GR2 is 0.8 kg heavier than that of its predecessor, the SL-1200MK5. In addition, the back of the platter has been provided with reinforcing ribs to increase stability. By increasing the contact area with the damping rubber, damping properties are achieved that are more than twice as high as those of the SL-1200MK5.

The tonearm, which closely follows the rotation of the record and enables tracking with high precision, is the traditionally used universal S-shaped tonearm from Technics with static balance, which is not only extremely light but also extremely stable thanks to the use of aluminum.

With its suspension design, the tonearm uses a tailored housing with high-precision mounts, like the SL-1200G and SL-1200GR. The high first movement sensitivity of up to 5 mg is achieved through manual assembly and adjustment by Japanese skilled workers. This allows the grooves in the records to be precisely detected.

In addition, a type of additional weight is included and the pickup can be replaced with various other pickups that best suit one's musical taste. (Pickup weight when using the existing additional weight: 10-16.4 g (cartridge head not included)
