KontaktBut fortunately, the speaker we're introducing to you here isn't one of them. The Evoke 20 is a full-fledged compact speaker that's suitable for almost any room. Its powerful 18 cm woofer/midrange driver ensures that it doesn't run out of steam so quickly, even under load, while the 28 mm soft dome tweeter reproduces even the subtlest details accurately. And of course, the Danish design looks fantastic in any location. Everything just fits here.
The Evoke 20 was developed by people who love music. Hundreds of hours were invested not only in measurements, but in intensive listening, and that means: concentrated listening, authentic music, in real rooms. So when you listen to the most beautiful pieces from your own music collection through these speakers, you will discover the same thing as our developers: something new.
Advanced driver technology
The 18 cm diameter Esotec+ woofer's 0.4 mm thick membrane is made of MSP (magnesium silicate polymer) - a material we developed ourselves and that we at Dynaudio have been using for our membranes for a long time. It is characterized by the perfect synthesis of lightness, rigidity and damping, which (together with the new Strontium Carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnet system) ensures an absolutely balanced reproduction of mids and bass.
The entire diaphragm is made from a single piece of MSP. This design is superior to the alternatives (gluing on a dust cap or leaving an opening) because it makes the diaphragm much more rigid - and less distorted. It also creates a stronger connection to the voice coil. And that means that even more kinetic energy can be transferred from the voice coil to the diaphragm via the balance ribs around the center.
The Evoke 20's 52 mm voice coil is made of aluminium. We chose aluminium instead of copper for this speaker because this material offers the right balance of weight and winding height to reproduce bass frequencies powerfully while maintaining the necessary mechanical and electrical damping. The mid-range frequencies, which are particularly important for musical detail, are also reproduced in detail.
A Nomex spider ensures the correct alignment and movement of the entire ensemble. The surround derived from the new contour in turn ensures a larger radiation area and accordingly more power and "punch".
The new Cerotar tweeter
The tweeter is a new development. It is called Cerotar and is based on key technologies taken from our award-winning Esotar Forty tweeter as well as the new Esotar3, which you can find in the high-end Confidence series.
This is - in this respect it is no different from our other tweeters - a precision-coated 28 mm diameter fabric dome. This coating is applied precisely in the right places and at the right thickness to optimise the high frequency reproduction - a process that was refined in the development of our most exclusive speakers.
Behind the dome is a special component that we borrowed from the high-end Confidence speaker - the Hexis. This is a special internal dome that shapes the airflow to smooth the frequency response and prevent unwanted resonances that would affect the treble reproduction.
Like the Esotec+ woofer, it has the new Strontium Carbonate Ferrite+ ceramic magnet at its heart, which ensures increased sensitivity, improved detail resolution and a natural, dynamic reproduction.
Or to put it more simply: "With these speakers, you can enjoy music for many hours without tiring your ears." So, let's go: get the prog-rock quadruple album down from the attic!
Made for Real Life
Our designers carried out real field research when developing the Evoke. They visited exhibition halls, furniture stores and, of course, real homes in Denmark. The Evoke 20 had to look good everywhere, both aesthetically and acoustically. It was important to be able to imagine the speakers in a variety of living spaces - because living and listening are very individual things. You sit on the couch with a coffee, the dog sleeps in its basket - when everything fits, that's called hygge in Denmark, and the Evoke should fit into this picture.
That's why the four Evoke housing designs are so appealing at first glance. Choose between "Black High Gloss" and "White High Gloss" (in these two versions, a new lacquering process creates a stunning, glass-like look) and the warm and organic-looking "Walnut Wood" and "Blonde Wood" versions with their open veneer structure.
The housings are tapered towards the top, similar to the Contour and Confidence series. The mounting screws are hidden behind elegant one-piece decorative rings. And because good design never ages, you can be sure that these speakers will still be emitting not only great-sounding music, but also a sense of taste in 30 years.
And these are beautiful prospects.
