With the TD 124 DD, Thorens is reviving one of its most legendary models. The successful basic concept of the original TD 124 has been consistently developed further with modern approaches and now enables a completely new playback quality.

The TD 124 was first introduced in 1957 and served for decades in countless radio studios all over the world. But ambitious music lovers also quickly discovered the extremely precise record player for use at home; a dedicated fan base remains loyal to the legendary record player to this day.

Thorens is now continuing this tradition with the completely newly developed TD 124 DD and continuing it with innovative technologies. The puristic design and basic construction are based on the original, but the height-adjustable aluminum chassis now rests on vibration-damping rubber elements. Instead of the original drive with friction wheel and belt, the new TD 124 DD uses a "high precision" direct drive. This has a powerful torque, enables precise control of the speed and keeps disruptive influences from the drive away from the turntable.

The new TP 124 tonearm can be precisely adjusted to the pickup used in all parameters and has an innovative anti-skating solution with ruby ​​bearings. The developers have also given the TD 124 DD a patented new electric tonearm lift, which ensures that the needle is inserted and removed gently.

In addition to the extensive adjustment options, the included headshell also provides a lot of flexibility when choosing the pickup. The scope of delivery also includes an additional, slightly heavier counterweight that fits the separately available Thorens SPU TD 124 pickup. This is a version of the equally legendary Ortofon SPU that is specially tailored to the TD 124 DD and that Thorens developed together with Ortofon for fans of something special.

Thorens has consistently developed the new TD 124 DD to meet the highest sound demands. A high-quality external power supply ensures interference-free power supply, and in addition to the unbalanced outputs, balanced XLR connections are available for connection to high-end systems. These, together with a suitably equipped phono preamplifier, guarantee optimal signal transmission and thus the best possible sound.
